La Parguera is a very small town and so if you are looking for a bank or post office, you will need to drive to get to one. There is a grocery store, a little bigger than a convenience store, and one church in the town.

Emergencies:

Since Puerto Rico is part of the United States, all you need to do to summon help is dial 911.  The closest local hospital is:

Currency:

Puerto Rico accepts US dollars and all major credit cards

Cellphones:

The following major cell phone carriers work in Puerto Rico: AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon.

Drinking Law:

The legal age is 18 years old. It is against the law to drink outside. You must be in a bar, restaurant, home, hotel, etc. Cops can and will fine you on the spot.

Smoking:

As per lawn 66 which took effect in 2006, Puerto Rico is smoke free.  The only places you may smoke are: outdoors, in hotel rooms specifically designated for smokers, your own home, and your own car provided there are no children present. Police can and will fine you on the spot.

2nd offense $500
subsequent offenses $2000

Time Zone:

Puerto Rico is in the Atlantic Standard time zone. They do not practice daylight savings time.

Grocery Store:

There is a small market on route 304 called M&M Supermarket. It doesn’t have a lot, just the basics.
