La Parguera is the only place on the island where you can find “Las Casetas.” Las Casetas are small wooden houses on stilts in the water on the coast of La Parguera. They range in size from small one room houses to two story houses with 5 rooms and a boat garage. These houses are not accessible by land, but by boat only. They are often brightly painted.
The houses were built over several decades. Professionals such as doctors, lawyers, and even a judge own most of these houses! Most residents don’t live in these houses year round, but use them as vacation homes.
